Concerned about tap water quality - what do I do?

Hiya
Hubby and I ill recently, bloating nausea and upset stomach. I'd like to test our tap water, should I buy a kit, if so which one? Or should I approach the housing association for our block of flats? Or the council?

Also we bought a new fridge with a non plumbed in water dispenser 1 month ago so I'd like to test the water that comes out of that, perhaps that should be the first step.

The water in your tlat is not the eesponsibility of either your housing association or council. It's the responsibility of the water company. You need to call them first.

Is everyone else in the block ill with the same symptoms? If not it's unlikely to be your mains water supply that is contaminated.

If you do believe it to be your mains water you need to contact your water board, it is they who will re responsible.

    Do you not boil water?
I'd put it down to food intolerance rather than water related.

I would say the water out of your fridge is more likely to be the culprit than your tap water.

All the ones I've seen that dispense water are plumbed in or what's the point you might as well put a jug of water in the fridge

It's a built-in jug, very smart. I used to have one in my 1990 Hotpoint.

If its a block of flats there could be some type of communal supply, in which case it could be down to the HA-just ask them. If you pay your water bills to the local water authority, it's probably them you need to call.
