They aren't talking about "splits" when they say that buying off them will be cheaper than anywhere else.

The fact is you can buy your train tickets including split tickets elsewhere cheaper than via the company you are championing

Of course they are; it's in the same sentence, and that concept is what the word "this" refers to.

No other booking site will offer to sell you splits, so no other site will offer you the savings.

What you are talking about - manually typing in a combination onto a booking site - is different, and as you are doing the work manually, obviously you are retaining all of the saving for yourself.

As I said earlier, people have the choice!

    No

What I am talking about is that the website you champion wrongly says that no where else is cheaper than them for buying tickets.

You can buy exactly the same tickets(including as many splits as you want) that they sell elsewhere but cheaper!

Not wrong to point out their misleading claim on a moneysaving forum.

    It does not say that.

As I said earlier, people can buy the tickets elsewhere by putting each ticket in their basket manually.

Trainsplit is unlike other sites; it will look for cheaper "splits" and will offer any such "splits" found to you, providing you one itinerary for the entire journey.

The other sites will not offer you any splits. You have to specify exactly what you want manually, input them as separate journeys.

People can choose between having the splits found for them and the process automated, with 90% of any savings passed on to the customer, or they can input each separate ticket as a separate journey on another booking site manually.

I don't see how it is misleading. If anyone is misleading, it is you.

Why would I post a lie. Please don't accuse me of doing so.

This is exactly what they misleadingly say regarding charging a commission for buying split tickets from them:

in all instances this still works out cheaper than buying anywhere else

You can buy split tickets at no cost whatsoever elsewhere!

Have the decency to stand corrected

But what is the "this" to which the text you quote refers to? Here is the full text:
Unlike other third party retailers, Trainsplit does not charge any booking or card fees. If a split ticketing saving is found a commission equivalent to 10% of the saving is charged, but in all instances this still works out cheaper than buying anywhere else. If there is no saving by splitting the fare, no fees are charged.
So the fees are only charged "if a split ticketing saving is found".

No other train ticket booking site will find a split ticketing saving. So if you ask any other booking site for a quote, you will only be quoted for a through ticket, not a "split".

What you are talking about, manually entering each ticket as if it were a separate journey in another booking engine, is quite different to having the booking site provide you with a "split ticketing saving" and automatically add each ticket to the basket for one journey.

I am not disputing that. But this thread is only discussing split tickets!

The point I have made is that you can buy split tickets elsewhere cheaper (with no fees at all) than via the company you champion.

You have accused me of lying and misleading.

    I have not done so.

This is becoming like a tennis match. No point continuing as everyone will get a stiff neck.

Everyone reading now knows that the company you champion will charge for supplying split tickets and despite what you say we cam buy exactly the same tickets (including splits) elsewhere for no charge. MSE shows us how to find splits (and provides a tool to do it too).

You are the one who is going on about lying or misleading, not me.

Yes, people can manually do their own research and specify each ticket as a separate journey on any website without incurring any fees. I said that in my first post on this thread.

Or they can use Trainsplit.com which will do it for you, and will charge you 10% of any savings as a fee. This is not misleading as you won't get any other booking site offering the split, so there is still a saving to be had.

Your comparison is different to the comparison and claim made on the website.

People can make their own choice whether they want it to be an automated process or not. Given it can be extremely time consuming to find the most optimum split I don't really see why this website should not be "championed"?

    It is misleading.

Other booking sites will let you order split tickets without any extra charge for doing so. Using them rather than the site you champion will get us a saving over what your pet site will charge.

You accused me of lying when denying that your website says that they work out cheaper than buying anywhere else. You have now even posted the quote that says it!!

And of course you can buy split tickets elsewhere! When you do so they will be cheaper than getting them off your pet site!

(This website is aimed at saving money.)
