Has anyone used energyswitchr

Hi, I'm intrigued and interested in energyswitchr, but being cautious I can't find any consumer reviews, scam advisor rates it as safe but I am just balking at giving them my login details for my energy supplier.

Has anyone had any experience with them?

Thanks

Andrew

Why pay £9.99 a year membership to give up the switching payments you could pocket yourself? - including those from switching via MSE.

Why a big map showing their location in a posh part of London(just off Kensington High Street) - do they want visitors, or is it just to impress? In reality it is a block of small offices.

Why do they want your date of birth?

They say they 'take into account exit fees and contract tie-ins'. - the implications of that are not explained.

Lastly someone who joins MSE to specifically to ask a question about a new company arouses the cynic in me.

Presumably it's required in order for them to take complete control and switch you automatically.

I wouldn't want to give anyone such control over who supplies me with my gas and electricity, let alone a business that has not even been in existence for 12 months (and the history of the businesses the directors have been involved with in the past does not bode well for the future)

What would happen, for example, if you wanted a 3 year fixed, but a 1 year fixed was currently cheaper? Or what if you were on a nice fixed deal, but a new supplier popped up offering a really great variable deal (too good to be true, perhaps) a couple of months later. Perhaps then the new supplier realises they got their pricing wrong, so up their prices accordingly, by which time the computer system would have switched you from the nice fixed deal you did have, and possibly is no longer available to new applicants. Or there may be suppliers you do not wish to give your custom to, no matter how good a deal they may offer.

If you can't be bothered to consult a comparison site regularly, just sign up for an alert service such as the MSE CEC (other providers of a similar service are available). That will alert you to a better deal you may be interested in, but keeps you firmly in control. The service is free, and you may be able to obtain cashback on any switch you then elect to perform.

I dispute the suggestion on their website that consulting a comparison site is time consuming, and have personally not made any mistakes when applying via a comparison site. I would say the only error I do occasionally make when using the wide variety of comparison sites (I do use a lot usually to help others here) is to mix up the gas & electricity annual usages ... but when I do that, it is clear I made a mistake because the output is totally wrong.

However, if you feel confused, most comparison sites offer a telephone helpline (usually freephone number) to assist you.

Or, if in doubt, post here on MSE with details, and I'm sure someone will assist you.
