Nationwide debit card delivery

Off to Thailand in mid September and want to get the Nationwide debit card... was wondering if anyone could tell me how long they'd waited between being accepted and their card turning up on their doorstep?

Thanks in advance

  • I put in an application to open a Flexaccount on Saturday, but not had anything back just yet. I'm going abroad at around the same time as you, and also hoping it will turn up in time! I'll try post here when the card arrives.
Never mind the house prices, I'm saving a deposit.

Buying and moving costs: £3-5k - will save this after the £20k

I applied online for mine about 2 weeks before my holiday back in June. It came about 3 days before we left. I was surprised at the speed. Dig your ID out now ready to take into the branch for verification. If your going on holiday, you won't want to be posting your passport!

Normal times for a new account card to be delivered is usually 5-10 days, the PIN follows a couple of days later. If you want to speed up the application process to be sure you have everything in time, it would be worth applying in a branch rather than online as you would be waiting for the paperwork to arrive and may need to visit a branch to hand in your ID anyway. Most branches will accept a paper application over the counter without appointment as long as there are staff available to process them - a quick call round your local branches will determine how quickly they could do it.

My branch is usually the same day (as its me that processes them), I know of others that can take up to a week however if the sales staff have fully booked diaries and there is no other member of staff able to process them. The final alternative is to apply over the telephone on the Call Centre line and then go into the branch as soon as they give you an application reference, to sign the paperwork and take copies of your ID.

If you need any more info then please let me know!
