Reclaiming old Nat West unauthorised OD charges

Does anyone know if I can still reclaim old unauthorised overdraft charges?

This refers to a bank account going back 8-9 years ago.
I still have all the bank statements as proof and currently, I am in severe financial difficulties and these charges amount to a few hundred pounds.

If anyone has any thoughts I would be really grateful.

Many thanks
David

You need to be still with the bank, still getting charges, and in genuine financial hardship for the bank to consider a goodwill payment.

So if I am no longer with them, they will not entertain it?

Banks won the court case many years ago. Now, they only consider refunds where the charges are incorrectly applied or you are in current financial hardship.

Correct. Financial hardship refunds are a goodwill gesture. Not a requirement. Most banks look at the last 6-12 months worth of charges when considering a refund. Although extreme cases may look back further. You closed this account 8-9 years ago so there is nothing current with them.
