New Chromecast/motion judder

Not sure if anyone might know anything about this. I have a Chromecast (the original one, not the new one) and like it, but when I stream HD movies from Google Play or Now TV, there is slight (but noticeable) judder on the picture. Connection speed is fine, and it never really buffers, but the judder is there.
I have read that this is probably because the output of the Chromecast is set to 60hz, which doesn't work well with European TV refresh rates.
I note the new Chromecast has improved WiFi specs to make it faster. Could this help improve the slight judder (not sure if it might be a slight delay in WiFi speed) or is it likely to be the Hz issue causing the judder and as such, a new Chromecast would be exactly the same?

Seems like it's the chromecast device.
I checked and there seems to be news articles regarding this.

I also think if your TV is good enough it will play videos without any problems...0 -
Had the same thing on mine - but it turned out to be one of the picture enhancement settings on the TV - can't remember which one unfortunately. It isnt a samsung TV you are using is it?0

Thanks both. I actually just bought a new TV (and yes, it is a Samsung!) but the effect was pretty much the same with my old TV (a Phillips) so didn't know if that pointed to a slow WiFi issue.
I believe I have all the image processing settings turned off on the TV but can have a play about with it. Just didn't know if anyone had this issue and had tried one of the new Chromecasts and seen an improvement.0 -
Very unlikely to be a Hz issue - most TVs these days, especially if they have HDMI, can do 60 or 50Hz.
More likely WiFi - that's dependent on the Chromecast (and the new one does perform better here) AND your router. If your router isn't 'N' I'd defo change it if you want to stream video. Also make sure you're on a nice clear channel.
And then, of course, if your broadband isn't up to it (say 8mb/s or less) you may have problems...0 -
Thanks, I've actually tried it a couple of times since in the evening, with no other WiFi devices on and it does seem better, so perhaps it is internet speed.
I have BT Infinity fibre (get about 38MBps) and the Home Hub 5 so hopefully fast enough to stream HD, but might be worth changing to the new Chromecast at some point to take full advange of the router.0 -
Your internet is certainly up to the job, as is your router. No need to spend money yet. We've isolated this as a WiFi problem. Firstly - can you move the router and Chromecast closer together? What channel are you on? There are 13 or 14 WiFi channels, and they can interfere within 2 either side. If you've got an Android phone, download 'WiFi Analyzer' (yes, spelt like that!) and run it, and walk around your house. It'll tell you what WiFi networks are around and what channels they're on. It'll even recommend a channel as being most interference free - swipe side to side for different screens. Note the signal strength from your router, whilst your phone is close to the Chromecast. Make the changes, and check again. If you've improved the signal, you've improved the bandwidth, and will hopefully get rid of the stuttering.0
