iPad technical help please - Autofill has stopped

Wonder if anyone can help - Autofill was working perfectly, but has mysteriously disappeared, replaced with a back and forward arrow and a clipboard icon. I have recently updated, which probably has something to do with it, have checked settings, undid Autofill and rechecked it, also tried the old chestnut 'Switch it off and on again'. Still no joy. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

I have noticed this too. I don't have a solution except try this. When you have a form to fill in, click in the first box, usually asking for your first name, and then sometimes the autofill facility comes up.

I too am having the same problem. I'm struggling to keep on top of the competitions having to fill everything in manually.

My ipad has stopped auto filling as well.

I couldn't get it at first either, but then with a box I wanted auto filling selected, I pressed near the top of the keyboard and the extra bar appeared (where the predicted words are shown) and between the words and the new clipboard/undo icons was the word autofill (the clipboard/undo icons reduce down to one popout icon to allow room for the autofill icon where necessary), just where it used to be before the update. It now appears automatically for me every time and works fine. I just had to fiddle with it that first time - not exactly a technical explanation/solution but it did work!

Edit: on a slightly more technical note, have you made sure you have the latest update 9.0.2 not just 9.0? Also, check under settings>safari>autofill and make sure both "names and passwords" and "use contact info" are switched on (mine switched off in the update).

It confused me too (if it's the same solution)

When you are looking at your keyboard, above the top line of letters is a small white dash (bang in the centre) flip this up, it might take a few goes as it's very close to the "Y" and the auto fill button appear!

Aha! That's what I meant when I was saying I pressed at the top of the keyboard and the extra bar appeared, but you just explained it much better than I did

Thanks everyone, glad it's not me being a techno klutz. I thought I had it sorted, I switched autofil off, switched iPad off and on again, then restarted autofil. Now it works most of the time, but not all! I do have the latest update, maybe this is a bug they will fix soon?
