Mornin All,
Unc. is going to buy his new laptop this week, my question is how do I put his email supplier which is Outlook Express or how do I get it upon the new laptop.
He has a TalkTalk email address on Outlook Express which he has always had and being an oldie he is used to it!
I hope the above makes sense?

If you really want outlook express, then you can find multiple places to download it from with a quick google ..
You will just need to feed it his talktalk account details and off you go ..
However, the new laptop will most likely come with windows 10.
Just use the mail client included in that - much better than OLE in my opinion
Hope this helps

Thanks AndyP.
If he went for another supplier how would I transfer all of his contacts to it.
He has an TalkTalk email address which I assume he can still use if he changes over to another supplier?0 -

If he want's to export his contacts from TT mail then login through webmail, click contacts>tools>export>select CSV.
Then import the CSV into whatever he is using, I have a personal preference for the Thunderbird email client, this will be the nearest thing he is used to compared to OE.
For further info on setting up Thunderbird for Talktalk, see here:
http://help2.talktalk.co.uk/configuring-mozilla-thunderbird-talktalk-email
NB this assumes that he is using TT for the contacts, if he is using OE to store contacts locally then see here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/175017
Export from OE then import into Thunderbird.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Outlook Express is not available on any OS after XP, and the new machine presumably will have W10. So you'll be limited to the default Windows W10 mail client or a third party one such as Thunderbird. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

From TT customer forum :
"
To confirm, you will continue have access to your email address, and My Account if you leave Talktalk, however if you de-register my account you wont be able to change the password for any email addresses associated to it.
Hope this helps "
In other words, you will still be able to get the mails , using the pop or imap settings, but you wont have control of the account to change passwords etc ..
Tell him to use this opportunity to bin it and open a gmail account.
He could set up a forward on his talktalk one to forward all mails to his new gmail one, and perhaps set up an autoreply to tell people what his new email address is0 -
I recommend getting a gmail address (or similar). Not being reliant on TT is a good idea.
I imported all OE mail/contacts into Windows Live Mail easily. Ask if you want more info.
EDIT. Something like this.
1. close OE
2. export IAF from OE; WLM can import this; that copies over your mail settings.
For existing mail/contacts...
Transferring data from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail: For messages:
Copy the *ENTIRE* OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place this on the Desktop or other location on the machine using WLMail. Open WLMail and: File | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6 and point to where you saved it.
OE Message Store Location:
In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer or, copy and paste it into Start | Run.
In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View.
For Addresses:
Open the Address Book in OE and File | Export | Address Book (wab) and save it to the Desktop. Copy to a flash drive. Place this on the Desktop or other location on the machine using WLMail.
Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (Go | Contacts on the Menu Bar), and File | Import | Windows Address Book (wab) and point to where you saved it.
Note: If you use a CD or DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the Read Only attribute in Properties before you import. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
I've got a disc with Microsoft Office 2007. When I installed that on my Windows 10 PC, it added Outlook Express at the same time. It works fine.0

No it didn't, it added the full Outlook, rather different beast to OE, far better......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Like grumpycrab, I also recommend using Windows Live Mail as a reliable email client.
Live Mail can be downloaded here
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=29224
I have Gmail and Hotmail accounts and both appear in the programme.
Good luck0
