Hi All I hope you've all had a good week....

Mine was fairly busy - I've been going at a sluggish pace due to still recovering from bug. Monday was a ridiculously long day - up Town for a meeting early in the morning and not home until 11pm due to an evening event. Then on Tuesday I visited a friend who is terminally ill. I was grateful for the rest of the week being mostly based at home.

I've been feeling pretty unmotivated and lacking in energy but today I forced myself to do some stuff to get organised (the house - which of course is also my main place of work - was a tip) & I feel a lot better as a result.

I'm working tomorrow morning (coaching 3 clients) then will take the afternoon off - possibly to do something with my son to celebrate his birthday - we didn't do anything on the actual day as we were both tired & the weather was freezing...

Next week is looking much quieter which hopefully will give me the chance to catch up with background tasks - I've even got behind with my invoicing - which is NOT like me!! .:rotfl:

What I haven't said is how much I LOVE the actual coaching - I have got some absolutely amazing clients at the moment who I find incredibly inspiring and a real pleasure to coach - they are amazing and when I'm doing the work I feel like I'm the luckiest person in the world. :)

I hope you all have a great week :)

It's always nice to get organised at home isn't it?! I know I can't totally relax until it's a sort of tidy, not completely show home, but tidy enough that I'd let someone in :rotfl:

It must be lovely to see people transform in front of you, they get what they need from you and you get that satisfaction of knowing you helped guide them to whatever!

Have a nice afternoon tomorrow and happy birthday to somerandom junior :)

  • Thanks OrangeEna - yes it is satisfying work - much more so than my previous job. I do feel really fortunate to be doing this for a living. :)

  • Morning All :)

I did my accounts for November & it was significantly my best earning month since I started as self-employed :T. I earned enough to feel really relaxed and comfortable about the up-coming quieter period over Christmas & that's a really nice feeling....

Somerandom Jnr has also become an entrepreneur!! He's had a You Tube channel for a while and monetised it a couple of months ago - he's now earning a very decent amount - enough that I'm going to have to get him registered for tax !! :money: (although I don't think he will earn more than the personal allowance this year). I'm very proud of him

Last week was fairly quiet work-wise - I used the time to visit my friend who is ill, and to catch up on some tasks that were at the nether regions of my "to do" & to catch up on my "Science of Happiness Course". I've also got back into a gym routine :A

I am shamefully behind on my Spanish homework- :o I have missed so many of the evening classes due to one thing or the other. I was toying with the idea of signing up for the second term anyway (but maybe a day-time class) - because I've learned Spanish before I could easily keep up but I don't know if its worth it - maybe I'm better just doing it online? I will think about it over the next few weeks.

Next Week looks fairly busy and a nice balance between work, other interests and social.

Have a great week everyone :)

  • I had the same dilemma with German, I was tempted not to sign up as I struggled last term. However last Friday they had a one day discount on next term & my friends from the course persuaded me to sign up for next term. I am hoping to renew my enthusiasm over the Christmas break (I'm going to Berlin, which should help). Good luck with whatever you decide.

  • Thanks Clarey[/B :) Your trip to Berlin should help with motivation - that's probably what I need - some way of connecting with the "why".

Hi All !! Last week just flew by for me - how was it for you?

It was a busy week – some activities paid and some unpaid - an eve social event which was lovely but left me feeling distinctly the worse for wear the following day :o

I went on training to train other Walk Leaders – which is a voluntary activity I am involved with – it made a nice change to do something unrelated to Coaching. It was very good training too.

This morning I co-led a ”Street Wisdom” event up at the South Bank. I really enjoyed it – we had 8 people turn up in spite of the bad weather. They all seemed to get a lot out of it. I also had a chat with the woman who is helping me with my Marketing. I am getting a clearer plan and really need to start putting some work into it – I do so very little at the moment.

Which leads me onto a decision I have made – I am planning to continue writing this diary only until the end of the year then I will stop and divert my attention to my marketing activity. I will miss hearing from you but hope I will come across you on other threads (although I'm trying to cut down on those too....) If anyone would like to keep in touch by following me on Social Media in the New Year – PM me & I will send you the link.

Next week is looking like a nice balance between work, social activity & a bit of pottering time ☺ !! Although I’ve just remembered that I’ve done literally nothing to prepare for Christmas so maybe I should turn my attention to that !!!

    Have a good week :)

Another "blink & it was over..." kind of week.

I did a fair amount of coaching, was up to Town for a meeting on Monday then again for lunch with a former colleague on Weds - that was lovely <3.

I finally got around to putting my Christmas tree up & I've even bought a few presents. I feel very half-hearted about the whole thing but I'm grateful for the prospect of a few quiet days chilling with my son.

I'm hoping that I will get a chance to catch up with a few things over christmas too & I've got to start sorting out my accounts. :eek:I promised myself that I wouldn't leave it to the last minute again this year but I've done just that AGAIN!!!!!!:o

Next week - I'm working up until Thursday then things are super-quiet for a few weeks. Thankfully, I earned enough in November to feel OK about that and not panic. The plan is to tackle my marketing over the quiet period so that I'm ready to go with that in the New Year.

I've got some lovely new clients and some others that I have been coaching for a while are making real progress which is so lovely to see - one person in particular comes to mind who was really struggling with self-esteem and confidence and all of a sudden it's like a switch has flicked for them and they are starting to see themselves differently :) It really warmed my heart to see the change in them.

When I hear about my old company my heart sinks - things are not going at all well there - there have been funding cuts and quite a lot of people are being made redundant - so awful :(

Anyway, I hope you have a lovely week - look after yourself in this run up to Christmas :)

  • Hi All

Today will be my last diary entry. I’ve been keeping this diary since October 2015 when I first became self-employed. I’ve really enjoyed the weekly reflections and the interaction with you my lovely visitors.

Only 15 months ago I was terrified – having stepped into the unknown and now it just feels like it's my life.

I’m very thankful for the fact that things have gone so well and relatively smoothly. Yes, I prepared, yes, I worked hard and I am also grateful for people who have supported me and for the bits of luck I’ve had.

In spite of the fact that it’s gone smoothly – emotionally there has been ups and downs. Sometimes its felt hard being in a completely new world and constantly doing things outside my comfort zone and I’ve missed working in a team.

Other times it’s been amazing – Coaching when I was in Spain, facilitating events in venues as diverse as a prison, the hospitality suite of a football club and a living room and garden. Working with inspiring new people. And the very fact that I get paid to talk to lovely people and connect with them on a deep level.

I have learned so much in this last year both about running a business and about myself. And there’s still plenty of room to grow in both areas. In fact I feel I am at the brink of a different stage in both – I just don’t know what that is going to look like yet. One thing I do know is that I am ready for it.

Thank you for reading my posts and interacting with me – it has been a great support.

I hope you have found my diary of some value. If I could have you take anything from my posts I would want it to be that if there’s something you want to do – find a way to make it happen. It may be that it feels like a big leap at the time but once you land and find your feet you will realise you are on solid ground and you will have the resources within you to make a go of it.

I will leave you with this quote from Rumi
“ Let yourself be silently drawn by the strong pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray”.

Wishing you all a Wonderful 2017

I'll miss reading your lovely diary entries, you write so well and it's a very inspiring read.

    Happy new year :)
