No paperwork to reclaim PPI

Some years ago, I had some credit card debt on several cards. I distinctly remember opting out of PPI, but it's very possible that I didn't opt out of it immediately on all my cards, and I may have paid some PPI, which I could reclaim. (For various reasons I won't go into here, if I did have it I'm pretty sure I was mis-sold.)

The problem is that I now have no paperwork relating to this. I can just about remember which companies the cards were with, but that's about it: I have no idea of the dates I took them out, the account numbers or the amounts.

While it's possible that I may be owed something, it's also possible that it won't be much, and/or that no-one will have any record of it. To be honest, I have better things to do with my time than to try and put in a claim myself, since the lack of information would make the process tedious and time-consuming.

Does anyone know of a reputable reclaim company that would do all the donkey work for me, preferably on a commission basis?

Just contact the banks and ask if they can find you.

This is all a claims co will do, they do not do the "donkey work", or much work at all for that matter.

If the banks can't find you you send a SAR and £10 to each company asking for what info they have left.
Someone on the phone doesn't have the same access to histroical records that a formal SAR request might provide.
Bear in mind though, if your credit was that old, they may come back with nothing and you'll waste £10....

You still have to provide the information to the claims company, ie fill in the form the claims co sends you, which is very similar to the free complaint form available everywhere, You still do all the "donkey work" but pay the claims co to post it for you.

They all do it on a commission basis and take a huge chunk of any redress you may receive, all for the price of a stamp . . .

They could charge thousands of pounds.

Of course they have to be regulated to do this.

On the other hand, you do not have to be regulated to put a letter in the post.

So if you prefer, you can gather all the information, send it to me with £250 and I will put it into the post to the correct recipient for you.
