Have had a letter dated 28/09 about incapacity assessment, (that was quick). Medical was on 24/09,

It talks about certain disabilities or severe illness and says because I have one of these I can be treated as meeting the threshold of incapacity.

It just says that another assessment may be considered at a future date doesn't mention dates

Thanks to the forums on MSE I didn't feel quite so isolated and good luck to everyone else, hope it works out for you too.
  • I had to go for a medical 3 years ago and i awas terrified! But the Docter couldn't have been nicer. WE ended up nattering about some of the dead legs she gets in and she said she ahs a good idea of how truthful someone is going to be by the time they have walked from door to chair. They have a set of questions rather like on the form you have to fill in and thats the reason for the sometimes daft questions. She was the one who encouraged em to claim for DLA etc.
I suppose with their job it would become easy to presume everyone is faking it because they see so mny that are an they have to believe what they say even if they KNOW they are lying. One example i got was..
A lad came in claiming for backache saying he could hardly move.. his picture had been in local paper week before saying how he had been caught burgling a house and he climbed up through a 2nd storey window.....

So in all honesty i can see why they can seem horrible.

    Hi Everyone

Just a quick update, I did not pass, I scored 9 points and I needed 10 points to pass . I have to appeal now, I went to CAB yesterday and they got the ball rolling for me, as I do not have long left(I went on holiday for 2 weeks,) and they stopped my benefits from the 26th september and basically have a month from then to get my appeal done(thank god for my parent, got them to open the letter from DWP and to make an appointment with CAB if it is bad news, they received the letter on the 2nd October) I went on holiday on the 29th September.

I got told I had to either claim for Job Seekers allowance, I would get full allowance(the guy at CAB said that because I am under appeal they might not push me into finding a job, but he can not guarantee that or claim Income Support but at a reduced rate I would get 25% less, because I am not able to work, don't really know what to do, I do feel that I am not ready for work at the moment also I find it really hard making decisions. Plus I can not face the guy who gave me such a hard time when I signed on before.:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I suppose either claim I have to start the claims all over again, which is a right pain and spending hours on the phone answer questions . Sorry for all of that.

    Many Thank

Commiserations on not getting the extra point needed. It is a stressful time for you, now having to think about & cope with the appeal, but good luck with it.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I'm pleased for you. My husband's letter said exactly the same as yours!:rotfl:

How long does the decision take? My medical was about a month ago and no word!!! The stress is unbearable.

This will depend on the levels of arrears of work.
Why not ring your JCP Benenfit Delivery Centre and ask.
Ask them if you've passed the PCA or when you'll hear.
  • Thanks for everyones advice and support. Never got a letter so I called them and the lady said not to worry as I had passed. I don't know if there is any info in the letter I should be aware of though. Sorry to hear AJB135 didn't pass. Hope it goes ok if you appeal. Caz.
