Tip on renewing Young Person's Railcard

I still have 4 months to run on my young person's railcard, but I turn 26 soon so I went to renew it for another year for the last time. :(

It turns out that they're allowed to carry over up to 99 days from the previous railcard on to the new one, so my new railcard lasts until August 2006. I travel by train a lot and this extra few months will save me a fortune. :j

I don't think you're allowed to renew the card after your 26th birthday. So if you want to stay as a 'young person' for the maximum length of time, it seems the best strategy is to buy a railcard around 3 months after your 25th birthday, then renew it a few days before your 26th.

    I believe you still qualify for a Young Persons railcard if you are in full time eductaion, regardless of how old you are?

    You can be over 26 but you have to have proof of studentship. From the website;

    "If you are 26 or over, you will need proof that you are a full-time student at a recognised educational establishment for over 15 hours, at least 20 weeks a year or alternatively have an ISIC (International Student Identity Card). For details of ISIC see https://www.isic.org. You will need to have your application form certified by the relevant University/College".
