Can I Reclaim credit card PPI to reduce old debt?

Hi,

some years ago I had a credit card and paid PPI. I then had a difficult financial period and couldn't pay back the debt I owed on it. This credit card debt was then sold on and I have been making small payments.

Would it now be possible for me to reclaim the PPI in order to reduce the remaining balance?

Who would receive any monies, the original credit card company or the debt Management company.

I would really appreciate some help as I can't seem to find any answers to this.

Did you claim on the PPI at the time and if not, why not?

As far as I know any compensation would be paid to you by the credit card provider as the debt is no longer held by them so set off would not apply.

thank you for your reply.

No I didn't claim the PPI because I was self employed and it didn't cover me.

So would any monies be sent to me so that I can use it to pay off the debt company it was sold to?

Is there a time limit at all?
