Laptop grant wanted for my SEN dyslexia son.

My son is at upper school & has dyslexia, autism and ADHD. Do you know of any grants available to purchase a laptop? He needs it to use is the school lessons. Useful web links plus all ideas & information most welcome.

Thanks

Are you claiming DLA for him?

Yes. We use the DLA for therapies and assessments.

There should be a community council in your area who will help with grants. Ours has a huge file of organisations which give grants.

Presumably all the other children need laptops too - how are they funding them?

SEN department at your school would be a good source of information.

Does he have a Statement of SEN or Education, Health & Care Plan? If so his school may get pupil premium for him and you could request that this is used to buy a laptop for use in school?

I know this is a side debate and i dont want to detract from the OPs query which no doubt better informed members will answer . Call be a boring old f&rt but i do wonder why suddenly every child at school needs an ipad and a lappy? I left school in the 80s and no one had a pc. I think even the secretary in the office still bashed a manual typewriter albeit and electric one.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
