Breakup and single parent benefits?

My marriage is breaking up!
It is complicated.
If I claim benefits, as a single parent, not working, with 2 children, how long will it take, before I get my payments sorted, if anyone knows please?
I literally have no one to help me, so I need to be prepared.
I cannot just borrow money from family, my parents died years ago.
I will be staying in this rented house (housing association)
I have no savings, so am going to really struggle, if it takes ages to get some money, and my rent and c tax paid.
I need to make sure I have food and a bit of money first!
Thanks for any help!

caz If you can get all the information you will need to fill in the forms then they can get it done quite quickly. They had mine sorted within 7 days.0

Thanks, I can manage a week when you hear of people waiting ages for money, it is frightening. I won't be getting anything, off my soon to be ex!
I don't have a credit card or an overdraft, that would help.
So it has to be planned .
I do have 2 lovely kids, 2 loyal dogs and the pc, he is not taking my pc!
Thanks again.0 -
Hey Caz,
You should be entitled to Income support, Child benefit & Child Tax credits also housing benefit & Council tax benefit, put a claim in for child support.
They are generally pretty quick tbh.Hit the snitch button!member #1 of the official warning clique.
