Help with Credit card

Hi

Was just wondering if anyone could help me with my query ? I recently applied for a balance transfer credit card, I did this so I could transfer my fianc! balance (credit card in his name but it's our debt). I was accepted and got a credit card with Tesco, but didn't know that you can't transfer if the debt is in someone else's name. I have another credit card with Virgin and was wondering could I do a money transfer from my Virgin card and then transfer that balance onto my Tesco credit card?

In my experience whilst it says you can't transfer a balance to a Tesco card that isn't in your own name, it goes through fine. I have done it a couple of times recently in the same circumstances as you. Both times it went through instantly with no further checks.

However bear in mind it is against the T&Cs so I guess if they find out they might be able to penalise you, such as withdrawal of the 0% rate, so this is at your own risk.

There are other cards that do allow transfers from cards in someone else's name e.g. Cap One, Lloyds and Barclaycard, I have done it with each of these.

if you do the transfer online it never asks for the name of the account holder, just the card number

Thank you for the replies I'm hoping it'll go through and if it doesn't that I don't get penalised. I was looking into trying to get another credit card but because I've just been accepted for this don't want to leave to many footprints on the credit record.
