Time to replace 6yo laptop with Vista?

Options
My old laptop (COMPAQ CQ60-420SA) seems slow compared to my smartphone , would I really notice much difference with a new one. The speakers (altec lansing) on it are really good too and i'm a bit worried that i'd lose sound quality as I play a lot of music on it and new laptops ive looked at like acer, lenovo don't seem to mention much about speaker quality (brand etc) in their specs.

No laptop will have great sound quality. There isn't the room for decent speakers. For better sound with any laptop use headphones or separate speakers.

No, but some sound markedly better than others.

Definitely back up your data and run a clean install without any bundled software. Laptop will still be good enough with those specs. If you want to make it more responsive than your Smartphone/Tablet., spend £35 upwards on an SSD drive.

I've sent you the latest firmware update for the laptop, along with instructions.

No doubt, but they will all sound not great and I wouldn't buy any laptop on a sound quality basis. If you want good sound quality from any laptop you will need headphones/external speakers.

The op and others are clearly happy with their built-in laptop speaker sound, as am I. Some laptops come with a subwoofer, which makes a lot of difference.
