Take Warning

Robs Transport & Haulage Company Ltd of Corby

I booked transportation through Shiply for transporting a scooter I'd purchased from private seller near Barnsley to Norfolk. The company above gave the most competitive quote and consequently was chosen and a deposit paid through Paypal.

The hassle started right from the very outset when a dilapidated ill-equipped van turned up at the pick up address. Despite being given full details, make and model AND a photograph of the machine, the driver was expecting to pick up a moped rather than a large 400lbs machine. The seller reports that because the van was so ill-equipped (no tail lift or even an adequate ramp) and the driver so inexperienced, the machine may well have sustained damage in the loading process.

This was bad enough, but immediately after pick-up, I get a text message demanding immediate payment of the balance by Bank Transfer without any clue as to date of delivery. Feeling a bit concerned as the company clearly states that payment can be by Credit/Debit card, Paypal or Bank Transfer, and no mention whatever of payment before delivery or even date of delivery.

I contacted the company offering to pay in cash upon delivery or by Paypal before delivery. I received extremely hostile text messages threatening all sorts unless make immediate payment. Fearing further damage to the bike, I emailed the company offering pick-up from Corby (where the firm is located) by local (to me) courier and full payment in cash there and then. This too has been refused which amounts to illegally possession of my goods.

I then did a bit of investigation into the company and it's sole director, a [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM] and a sorry tale it turns out to be. This gentleman is sole director to no less than three other companies as listed below :
Travelshop 365.Com Ltd : Cash in bank £0 - Liabilities: £-33,450 Net Worth: £-63,520
Rlogistics2go Ltd: Cash In Bank £3,330 - Liabilities: £-33080 Net Worth: £-5,700
Giftcards4travel Ltd: Cash In Bank £1 - Liabilities £0 Net Worth £1
Source : Endole UK Company Insights

(It's also worth knowing that due to non return of accounts for 2014, the company is now threatened with being struck off the register at Companies House)

I then looked at his feedback page on [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM] site. At first glance it seems OK, peppered here and there with a few (but more than average) truly !!!!ed-off customers. Closer examination however reveals a preponderance of feedbacks stating "Positive feedback received, but no comments left".

Now if you like me visit feedbacks on Amazon, Tesco, Argos or any of the comparison site, you may see the odd one or two positive or negative feedbacks without any comment, but rarely so many as on this outfit's feedback. I checked! Out of the first 70 feedbacks, no less than 40 were of the 'positive but no comments' variety. Those amongst you with a bit of experience and nous already know how easy it is to create fraudulent feedbacks by simply registering different email accounts for yourself and registering false feedbacks. Given [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM] track record . . . Need I say more?:T

Now here's the punchline (finally) : Ignore all the suspicious feedback and what remains is a high 50% dissatisfaction rating for this dodgy outfit. Enough I reckon to be on Watchdog's Rogue Gallery.:mad::mad:

I can find no post of OP's that is a duplicate of the above.

If you want to make allegations of that sort, you should post a link to the duplicate.

(Do you know what 'duplicate' means?)

Whilst not a duplicate per se, I suspect he's meaning this thread.

    See bod1467's post

It may not be a 'duplicate' post, but I'm sure that someone clever like you can understand what I mean :)

It would make life much easier if you didn't claim things were duplicates when they are not.

Your post was not in any way helpful since if anyone had read the one you claim is a duplicate, they would already be aware of it, and if they hadn't then they would benefit from the warning.

You're quite right to an extent. The quote you refer to does mention and criticize the transport company but my intention was to draw attention to the inadequacies of [TEXT REMOVED BY FORUM TEAM] in not screening companies rigourously enough to protect those who use their site (which BTW I still maintain). It certainly wasn't my intention to commit the major sin (so it would seem) of duplicate threads but as a relative newbie, I feel I can allow myself a degree of leeway and mis-ettiquette (!) in these matters
    .
One question to daytona0, bod1467 and Azari

I know why I'm on this site. I'm sore as hell for falling into (or more accurately, being guided into) the clutches of a disreputable and dodgy outfit. Were it not for this fact, I'd be out on a beautiful day like today with my terrier in some park chucking his favourite ball around, at the pub downing a pint or two or on my non-existent motorbike (currently languishing in some industrial site in Corby) dashing along some beautiful winding country road. Looking at you guys and the number of responses you've got, you seem to be spending almost all of your precious life and time on this site. What gives? Reminds me of my teenage grand-daughter who seems permanently attached to her mobile and Facebook which (as may expect from an old fart) I think rather sad and a great pity. Surely it cannot be that your life revolves round MSE can it?

Not trying to insult, honestly, merely curious

It's just random moments during the day (such as times of boredom at work). When you talk as much pish as me it doesn't take long to rack up your post count. :D

Even so, given my length of time as a member of MSE forums, my post count only averages at 7-8 posts per day. :)

    What he said.

I have also managed well over two hours walking in this very pleasant weather and got plenty of work done.

Yes, I know. That was the point of my silly cowboy picture, to not be helpful :rotfl:

Yea you can. I just found your thread title funny.

    Valid question.

    1. I don't spend much time on the site. Usually it is just to either have a giggle, a bit of W.waving (Azari likes that too) or to offer useful advice. I travel a bit and work full time, and also frequent other sites online.

    2. This is your second post mentioning the same company (although we have established that it wasn't a duplicate!). You have to appreciate that you are also spending a fair bit of time and effort in making more than one post about similar issues. Not to knock it like! Good on you for warning people about this company if they aren't reputable! Just making a point of curiosity myself too.
