Thanks lucky (I'm currently on page 7 of your diary!). That's good advice. I might start shopping around...

Small update - as I thought the emergency fund is now in place. I will look for somewhere suitable to put it over the weekend.

Which means I will be gearing up for the first overpayment at the end of October (:j). As it stands it will be around 500 - but hoping to get that much higher by the time it comes to pay up.

Going to start looking around for items for eBay, quick earners, etc, but still enjoying the challenge....

Also, I actually don't know how to overpay :D, which is the next thing on the weekend list...

Hmmm, spent a bit unplanned today. Coffee and cake out (whoops) and a takeaway (darn it). £20 all in, but would rather have it in the bank account.

Did some home work and have decided to go for the 123 account with Santander, and will be sorting that out on Monday. Also figured out the whole mortgage overpayment process so that will come in handy at the end of the month!

Finally, did spend some money on paint and bits and bobs for the house (mostly inspired by reading through LuckyInLife's diary!). I'm not entirely sure how to classify that but my current thinking is that its an investment! As I'm monitoring the LTV more than the actual capital amount then keeping the house in good condition is surely a big part of that! Now, if only I could afford a swimming pool....... or have somewhere to put it :)

A little overspend today - an ice cream in the park for the little one - nothing too outlandish :)

We are normally pretty good with taking food and drink with us so aren't paying silly prices at the kiosks, but the weather was awesome today so couldn't resit giving him an ice cream!

Started tarting the house up with little things - fixed a chain on the bath, some pictures on the wall and a bit of painting prep.

Also started Swagbucks for things to do at lunch. Actually quite fun, but can see me getting bored with it.....

Bit early in the day to start posting, as a lot could change, but getting some thoughts down anyway.

I've applied for the 1|2|3 account, so hope to hear about that shortly. Then the plan is to move the EF over to it, along with everything I muster each month, then as soon as it is £500 over the EF, complete an overpayment.

Other than that it's a no spend (thankfully since the weekend) but can't see it lasting long as we have a few birthdays to sort out gifts for. We were better at the start of the year with planning out birthdays and shopping early for bargains but fell off the wagon a bit and just started defaulting to gift cards. Need to get out of that habit for Christmas....

Yeah, I am weirdly looking forward to remortgaging myself - few years left though...

Good news - the 1|2|3 account is up and running (hurrah) so a few things to sort out there to make sure I'm getting the most out of it. Based on their calculator it should be bringing in about £120 a year after their fees so that's going straight on to the OP.

Another no spend so far today - although I need to get milk so hopefully that won't tempt me into something else too.

Keeping up with Swagbucks and seem to be getting through about 100-150SB each lunch break as well, not completely bored of it yet :) - think that's about £10-15 by the end of the month.

Not much to add today. Pretty much a no spend (few essentials we forgot to buy for dinner, but otherwise being a good boy!).

Decided to up the Emergency Fund to £3,000 as it gives a better return on the Santander account. Also moved a bunch of direct debits over to it which will qualify for more cashback.

Other than that, just a bit of Swagbucking, cleaned the utility room and put up a few hooks. Roll on (over)pay day.....

Good Luck with your MFW mission. I will be lurking with interest.

I have recently started my own diary on here as well and it really does help keep you motivated. Well done for sorting out an emergency fund. Very important for a rainy day.

Hey lippy, thanks for popping by, just had a good read of your diary - nice to meet others at the start of their journey :)

Not much of an NSD today, needed some photos printing and getting the car cleaned for its MOT tomorrow (gulp). Probably should have cleaned the car myself but its way too nice a day not to be lazing around :D

None the less, going to be tackling the broadband shortly, so hopefully some savings to recoup there...
