I have a 4 figure debt through a divorce, and have now had the amount transferred to a debt agency. After speaking to them and agreeing a figure that was 50% of the debt to clear the outstanding amount, I then received a letter stating that I could pay 25% to clear the outstanding amount. Just had a phone to collect payment and been informed that it was a administration error....the question is have I got a legal standing to refuse the 50% and go with 25% to clear the debt as stated on the letter?
