Fertility Treatment...time off work....

speaking from experience, if you have a good relationship with your boss, its best to tell. for one thing it means that if your distracted at work or seem to be 'slacking' they know why and dont make it an issue.
Theres nothing to be ashamed of if your having fertility treatment, some people are luckier in some areas of their life then others. wouldnt go advertising it, but i would certainly tell those i could trust, the more support and understanding you can get the better.
also, you can then negotiate on what you do with the appointments, my boss allowed me to make up the hours, and work from home half days (not everyone has that luxury i know). i worked overtime for the appointments and booked holiday for the long days, provisional but i was able to identify the week and he was ok with that.
for the egg collection, my wife took 3 days off, I took 1 day off and worked at home for the rest.
Good luck with the treatment, we had ICSI at birmingham womens and it worked second time round (currently 11 weeks gone, 12th weeks scan next week). please PM me if you want to know about injections, what happened, etc, or even if you want to get something off your chest. that applies to the OH too, remember that its in someways harder for the bloke (i assume your the lady from your name)

My DH had just started a new job when we were undergoing IVF - he had to explain to his boss that he would need a few days off etc, and was worried about it. However, it turns out his boss and wife had undergone IVF themselves, and was absolutely brilliant about DH being off with little notice.
I can understand you're not wanting to tell all and sundry, but you probably are going to have to tell someone within the company. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
If you have a dedicated HR dept, they would be the people to ask about company policy, and it should be kept confidential.Signature removed for peace of mind0

I hope it all goes ok for you. We just went to our "group presentation" this evening, so we'll be going thru it in the next few months. We leave the country for good at the end of November, so we need to be on the "hurry up" queue.
I work for the NHS and have told my immediate boss who is very cool about me taking time off for this. I think it helps that she had a "lady problem" and had a little surgery and was off for three days.
One of us has a problem with our 'babymaking works' but no one me and him (and the doc's) know. We have told our closest friend or two what is happening, and no one in our family. I think it helps my story that I have only just had an under active thyroid diagnosed - I keep telling my mum that I can't conceive until that is a) under control and b) has been ok for about 9 or so months!
I just feel that if my family find out it's him or if his family find out it's me that is holding up the process of getting grandchildren (my family probably the last one, his family the first one!) we will 'be blamed', or be seen with prejudice, or not welcomed into the family like normal (married for 6 years).
That probably didn't help you much...
If you want to have a chat about what we are going thru do PM me. We are having our treatment at Oxford.

I would definitely recommend taking at least a week off with your feet up after implantation. Did this after my second attempt at it and ended up with twins. Offered the same advice to my friend and she did the same with the same result. She only had the one chance at it as well.
Good luck.0
