Electric meter wooden board infested with woodworms

My friend just told me she thinks the electric meter wooden board is infested with woodrowm. She has contacted her electricity supplier EDF and they will come and remove it. Surely she will need an electrician to reattach a new wooden mounting board or could it be left free standing. I told her I will seek advice on the forum. Thanks

If EDF remove it they will replace it and leave it all sorted.
  • Will EDF charge?. Treating the woodworm may be simpler. Be careful using liquids close to electrics. I've used this which worked and was bought much cheaper from my small local diy shop.

It sems unlikely that the mounting board for the meter is the only thing with woodworm. Anything else in the vicinity should be checked carefully. If the board is replaced and there is still woodworm in other timber nearby, what's to stop the new board getting infested too? Is there an alternative to timber that could be used?
