I have just applied for contributary ESA. I recieved a text to say I would get it but now have a letter to say due to lack of NI contributions I will not.

I have worked an paid NI since age 18, I am now 45. I was sacked in 2013 and was unable to go to tribuneral as the letter was sent over xmas and I was away. I hand delivered the reply but they lost it. 1 was off sick with severe work related stress for 12 months.

I didnt claim benefits as my partner worked and I expected reinstatement as they failed in duty of care.. my manager never implemented any of occ health recommendations.

The Contributions rules are fixed, there is no point in appealing if you agree you did not pay sufficient in the relevant years.

You have been awarded ESA, but you are not entitled to payment.

    Have you looked into PIP?
  • Yrs, have applied for that tho have been advised 6 month wait for medical assessment.

    Thanks for reply.
