Keep a copy of your insurance certificate with you in the car and show that to anyone who asks (like the police). Also contact your insurer and ask them why it is not on AskMid; it should only take a few days even for a new policy to appear and as your's is a renewal, it should hav been there anyway.

It will put your mind at rest and won't cost you much to ask about it now (nothing if you do it by email/0800 number)

But they are allowed time to get the database updated - until your previous policy expired that would be showing on the database.

Previous policy expired last night 12am, so new policy start at 12,01 according to new policy certificate but still not showing on askmid,so your saying even if its renewal they need to update thier system?and take few days?thanks

If you're worried, ring your insurer and ask them to verify the policy is live.

If so and you are really concerned about being pulled over, keep a copy of your policy in your car for a week or so.

I have renewed for the past 4 years and the policy has never been on AskMID for several days.

    Yes .
  • My policy started in June and they have only just updated the MIB after weeks of chasing them (insurance company). In all that time I was not stopped once by the police - and I have done over 10,000 miles in that time!!

Don't know why i wasn't stopped - maybe the police do not check it as often as we think they do!!

I think it's because the police don't check against askmid, they use the Police National Computer (PNC) which gets it's data from the DVLA and is updated much quicker.

Strangely, the two databases are not linked, in fact askmid doesn't even check against the DVLA to ensure the vehicle reg number actually fits the vehicle description. Jeez, even on-line car spares can match your reg to the correct vehicle, but askmid doesn't, but then, it's run by a government body . . . . . .
