    How did they react when you said you'd be rejecting it if the latest fix didn't work?

    If I were you I'd sign up to the owners club forums online. There can't be many of you new type r owners out there (yet) but there may be other owners experiencing similar problems so you can share all your knowledge and experience.

    I hope it all gets sorted for you cos it looks a beast of a motor!
  • Thanks Horizon81, great idea re the forum, I will definitely do that.

    We have now documented everything in a letter and advised our position re any further problems. Whilst they have not formally replied, the sales person has said verbally that he would support this if any further issues arise.

    Fingers crossed we don't have to go down that line.

    But seriously when buying a brand new car, you do so to avoid "issues"? TBH this is really p155 poor when you consider the amount of money the car cost.

    Not only would I be seeking to reject, I would be looking at another make.

    This maybe the case. BUT in this day and age it's totally unacceptable for a brand new product (especially one as expensive as a £35k car) to have issues and expect the consumer to put up with it. The dealer should be jumping through hoops here instead of making excuses to the OP. Clearly the last thing the dealer wants is to take the car back but imho, given that there is more than one significant fault with the car, the dealer should be legally obliged to provide either a refund or replacement. The OP has paid for a £35k car and should get a car which is worth £35k and of the quality expected.

    One thing I would advise the OP (if the car has been bought on finance) is to involve the finance company as they may be equally responsible.

    I agree. They seem to let the consumer do the testing nowadays.

    I bought a brand new E Class diesel last year for my wife. The injectors developed a fault after 40 miles and it had to be recovered. Not good.

    What do you accept I mean expect, it is an experimental car. You are paying more for a car not for reliability, but for speed. Such cars tend to be over 70,000 with jaguar , Porsche, BMW etc. I would let them fix it, I am guessing the 3 days he had it, he pushed it or took it to a race track.

    Get a rca or aa check, ask for their opinion? They may have some inside information on the car.
