Switch incentives for pensioners?

My parents are pensioners, 60's, and the only income they receive is the state pension but they have some savings.

Would they be able to benefit from any of the switching incentives which are currently available?

TIA

Anyone over 18 can apply for a current account. Acceptance varies from application to application but there is no reason why pensioners should get turned down. Once they have the required account, they can switch to it.
  • Are you (or they) concerned they can't meet the minimum monthly amount they'd have to pay into the account? If so Marks and Spencer don't have a minimum requirement and are offering a £100 M&S gift card. That may suit them.
Have a look at the accounts with switch incentives and see what all the terms and conditions are, then you'll be able to help your parents with accounts they can afford to switch to :)
  • I live on state pension too, have taken advantage of a couple of switching incentives, never had any problem with it.Opened a few new current accounts for the interest as well and was honest about my income and the source of it,again, instant acceptance.

This need not be a worry - the money only has to go in, it need not stay there - they could cycle in the required amount from their savings and back again each month.

We changed my grandmother over to the TSB plus account and she's was happy with that.

She's now no longer able to look after her own affairs but my mother has POA and the account works fine for her needs.

Halifax is another option or even M&S.
