Large crack appeared on my screen and it needs replacing, it will cost about £200 to replace but should I pay up or use my insurance windscreen cover which will cost me £50 excess and not affect my no claims but do you think it will increase my premium next year?

I made an insurance claim for a cracked windscreen, it didn't increase my premiums.
I found it best to let my insurance company arrange the replacement by a small local company. The large national windscreen company I asked for a quote seemed very keen to replace the windscreen immediately, then attempt to recover their high price from my insurance company.0 -
Do dummy quotes online with and without this claim in your history to see what difference it makes to the premium, then make your decision.
(Did you get your quote from a national - if so try a local independent for a quote before contacting your insurer)0 -
Even if your current company make no adjustment to the excess it still needs to be declared for upto 5 years.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I claimed for a replacement windscreen a year ago. It had no effect on my premium and didn't seem to inflate any other quotes.
YMMV.0 -
My old car used to go through windscreens at an alarming rate. I claimed for 3 of them over the 5 years I owned it and it never made any difference to my premiums. Probably best to get your insurance to sort it.0
