Bought a childs car seat - cover damaged?

I put my daughters car seat in the wash, and I didn't realise I couldn't wash the cover. The material surrounding the harness has come away, stitching undone and looks untidy. So I found the same seat o Ebay, with a pretty pink cover.
Anyway, it arrived this morning and first off the cover is still wet from where the seller has put it through the wash, and guess what - the area surrounding the harness is exactly the same as mine. In the listing it said "some sun fading" the whole thing is faded! I'm not so bothered about that just the fact its in the same condition as mine.
My plan was to put my black cover on new car seat (and vice versa) then sell my black one as damaged seat cover...
Should I just accept it and move on? Cost £65 inc p&p?

No way! Too expensive to accept & move on.
Have you contacted the seller?
What kind of car seat doesnt have washable covers anyway...what happens when you have a sickly baby/toddler!!!? We have a Concorde seat, which has been excellent, all parts come off & have been through the machine on several occassions.Piggypoints-749&325 ~ Boots AC-849 ~ Nectar-688 ~ £2 coins-£216 banked since July 07 ~ Tesco CC-(saving for Florida)£832

No, thought I'd get some advice before....The manual says not to wash, but I have washed mine on a low temp before and it was fine, its when I accidentally put it on a hot wash that it ruined, so thats what I assumed happened to this one. Also, there is a whole in the fabric on the top edge of seat as well! I'll contact them and see what they say.
Its maxi cosi priori by the way!0 -
If the seller does not respond and you paid by paypal you could claim back your money through them.0

Did you try contacting the maker of the car seat to enquire if seperate covers could be bought?
Surely this would of been cheaper than buying another one?
I would contact the manufacturer and complain about the non-washable cover stating the damage and asking them to replace it free of charge. Request a refund from seller and open an item not as described dispute if non-compliance. Did you pay through paypal?0 -
Hi, ok well I have spoken to the seller who is giving me a £10 refund which will cover the costs to repair the material around the harness. I love the cover pattern so am going to keep it. It says in the instructions to wipe clean only, so Maxi cosi not at fault.
New cover costs £40 plus p&p so that why I went with a 2nd hand car seat - so I could take the cover and put on my current seat then put my cover on new seat and resell, no doubt someone will be able to make use of my seat. Plus maxi cosi don't sell the pink covers! I will get around £40 for mine, so in all my pink cover has cost £15.
I'm happy0
