URGENT: Alarm installation required

Hi All

I urgently need some help for an alarm installation please.

A company which agreed to install a wired alarm system for me has pulled out in the last minute while they were supposed to start the job this morning, so now I am desperate to find another company to install the system for me.

If any of you know an alarm company that can install a wired alarm system in Worcestershire/West Midlands, please let me know. The system that I have got (bought) here is called Texecom Premier Elite 24.

Thank you!!

You can search for an approved company in your area using the directories on these websites:

Security companies probably make a lot more money on the hardware than the fitting, I doubt you'll get one to fit it. Try an electrician, but good luck.

Try the manufacturer's website, as they list stockists by region. However, as the previous poster says, they might not be too interested if they're not supplying as well.
In my experience (from many years ago) installing a wired system involves a lot of work and configuring of the system. Your average electrician may not be prepared to tackle it, and I would bet any warranty will be null and void if it isn't "professionally" installed...

That's exactly what happened when the installer came to my house this morning and rejected the job, besides he was trying to sell me an all-singing-all-dancing wireless system.

I did get hold of an electrician today, but he refused to take the job too. He also wants an easy 'wireless' job. If wireless alarms had never been introduced, I wonder what these guys would do for living now...

I did try to seek for help form the manufacturer, and they were not surprised that I couldn't find anybody to install the system for me.

You are correct that the system has to be installed professionally for warranty, insurance, etc. etc..

Mind you, the company which rejected the job today already asked £600 for installing the system only, I appreciate we all make some money for living, but £600 to install a wired system, surely that is a pretty good amount of money to make for a day for one just engineer.

It's gonna take longer than a day for one. We had a new alarm & bell box fitted using mostly existing sensors, he was here a good day just doing that.

Oh dear, sorry to sound blunt, but why does it take so long to install an alarm? I am not saying it is an 'easy' task...

Going by his demeanor he obviously didn't expect it to take that long! I think he had trouble working out what the original installer had done. He used most of the existing wired sensors & any new ones are wireless. But if you're fitting a wired system from scratch there's a lot of work involved running the cables, I can't see it being done in a day.

  • I am really stuck here now. I contacted the shop where I got the system from, they didn't want to know cos they haven't responded to me at all. Seeing there is nothing wrong with the product, I can't make them take the system back for a full refund. The system has costed me £300. So I don't really know what to do now...

Fit it yourself. I warned you in your last thread you'd find it difficult to find someone to fit an alarm you had bought. It isn't difficult if you take your time. Otherwise, sell it on ebay.
