Nationwide Enhance and Protect Your Money Event

I've been invited to what sounds like a morning's 'seminar style' event in a corporate event space.
10:00 Registration and welcome refreshments
10:30 Part 1 - How to enhance your money. How to make your money work harder
11:15 Break
11:30 - Part 2 - How to protect your money. Suggestions on how to maximise your family inheritance while maintaining your standard of living.
12:30 - Questions and light refreshments
Has anyone else been to one of these dos?
Are they useful or is it a heavy selling opportunity for Nationwide?
I wouldn't mind going if it's genuinely useful, but I'm in no mood to sit through two hours of hard sell.

This is just a Sales exercise, and I would expect it to be 'heavy', with follow-up if you don't succumb on the day. They won't be telling you much more than is on their website http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/investments/new-to-investing/new-to-investing
Nationwide offer a limited range of investments only, and their charges are probably higher than you would really need to pay in the open market. If you want to have unbiased advice, you should go to an IFA. Also read up about investments in places like monevator.com, or books like "Smarter Investing" by Tim Hale.0 -
I got my letter last week.
I will continue to use Nationwide accounts for as long as they suit my needs, but I won't be attending their sales pitch

Thanks, guys.
I won't go then. One more piece of paper for the shredder. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0
