I initially put my job search in it but was quickly told that's not what it's for. It's just for an overall plan for that week. For example I will enquire about a training course. I just put I will jobseek each day and below say I job searched everyday on the following websites and applied for suitable jobs. It's not worded exactly like that. I write it in a way as to fill the space. I dont allow them access ujm. I record my job search in the grey diary sheets.
I am part of some jobseeker groups on Facebook and it was in one of them ages ago about it not being mandatory to fill in the work plan. Although if you are being allowed to record your job search there then that's fine as otherwise you would just need to record it elsewhere. I am surprised they haven't told you not to like I have been here.

I've always had sheets or the booklet, not both.

I wrote down the plan and then below that I did that plan. So "I will search the Indeed site" on top and "I searched on the Indeed site" below, for example. Bit more detailed but you get the idea. It was never mentioned about job applications I don't think, but they took away the sheet they expected job applications to be written on and gave me the booklet so I wrote down 2 or 3 applications in case.

No one really looked at it properly, especially after the WP. They did, however, expect to see the booklet (and it to be filled in) and I had to hand it in when I got to my appointment for it to be placed with others so they could see who was next. So I always had to have it and have it filled in.

I'm no longer with the JC so I don't have to worry what they want in it now anyway lol.

If I had an adviser asking for print outs I would say I need to be provided with printing facilities by them as it costs at places like a library. Then you lump a big pile of print outs In front of them when you sign. They would soon change their tune I suspect.

They'd probably say that's what the JSA pays for or you'd have to log on to their systems to print from there which you don't want to do (unsecure).

I have printed stuff off before but it looked rubbish as my printer was really low on ink and I only did it once or twice. If I remember right, they made a point of really wanting it so I took it to the next appointment and no one cared so next time I didn't bother and they wanted to see it -_-

Heard of it, not sure why, but no experience.

Did a quick search and found a thread on here from 2013...then realised it was started by you. What happened with it?

    All providers are awful sorry.
    :footie:
  • nothings happened on it yet? as haven't started yet, just checking if anyone else had any experiences with them?
  • Yeah I checked that post from 2013, and that was something different from what I am starting now, before it was a 2 week course, followed by 2 weeks work. What I'm starting now is with seetec community work placement, anyone had any experience of doing this through the jobcentre. thanks all.

well i would always say to people show them jobs you have applied for, i got told by an adviser this is what matters most. also if they have asked you to fill in the work plan then just do it to humour them if you dont fancy the hassle of standing your ground because like i said its not mandatory to qualify for benefit.

i wouldnt tell them i have a printer at home. i wouldnt want the cost of paying to print somewhere else. so i would ask for them to provide facilities. if they refused i would say can you show me the legislation that says i must provide print outs.

Course it matters most, it's the reason you're getting money from them.

As I say, it needed to be filled in as they always checked it was filled in and I had to have it to hand over. I didn't have anything else to show I was applying for jobs so that was the thing to prove it.

Technically didn't cost me a penny, I'm not the one who paid for the printer, the ink or the paper. But I kept it all on one sheet of paper and one sided, it would have cost a matter of pence to print and it meant no hassle from them.

I wouldn't want them to provide facilities, I wouldn't trust their systems. I never allowed access to my account, I'm not going to sign in to things to print stuff off, that'd be daft.
