Working with images on a computer is not just about editing and printing photos. It is possible to create impressive images from scratch using software such as Serif Drawplus X2.

Computeractive has teamed up with Serif to offer 15 lucky winners a copy each of Serif Drawplus as well as a Serif Graphics Pad. Drawplus works with Windows Vista and has all the tools and media needed for creating attractive images.

It can create drawings based on what are called vector images. These are easier to edit than photos and can be enlarged without any loss of quality. One advantage with this kind of drawing is that it is far easier to create animations. Finished animations can be saved in a variety of formats including Flash or Quicktime, or even for mobile phones with Drawplus Flash Lite. These animations can also be saved as screensavers.

The graphics pad is an alternative to the mouse that uses a pen on a special surface. In addition, the graphics pad can do things that a mouse cannot. For example, it can respond to pressure so heavy strokes produce wider lines than light ones. Each Serif Graphics Pad is worth £40.
