Ha sorry, if only it was 25% of the amount rather than 25% off the amount. It was sadly the latter, but still a quarter reduction which is extremely helpful to me.

Sure is, to be fair if I had that amount to offer I would be very happy with 25% off too, however I am going to have to try a hell of a lot lower :rotfl:

I am not sure if they will budge from 25%. The lady I spoke to put me on hold to speak to the manager and said that the best they could do was the 25%. But you never know.

    Good luck.

    Dac,

Its all about negotiation, the longer the debt has been with a DCA, the more discount can usually be obtained.
I regularly used to get letters offering 50/60% off debts I had at the time, there opening offers were in the 30% range.

Each company will have there own criteria for accepting full and final offers, you may have to play a bit of letter tennis with them for a while, and you may not get the discount you wanted, but you will get some, even if you settle just one account, its one less you have to pay every month.

Keep the negotiations confidential and separate from each creditor, don't tell them anything more than is necessary.
