Check out fees, again!

Hi,

We've just moved out of our property and are being charged £136 for our check out, which is being taken from our deposit. Fine, in our contract it states that a check out fee must be paid. However, this amount was never specified. In the terms and conditions we signed it states that the check out fee would be From £65.

The actual amount we have been charged was never mentioned. Is this worth disputing?

Secondly, they have charged us for cleaning (a regular tale I'm sure). However, we had the place cleaned and have a receipt from the company. Nowhere in the check out document does it say that the house needs cleaning, i.e. the levels of cleaning are fine. The agency have done it off their own backs. Is this also worth disputing?

No, it's a house we were renting in the UK.

Indeed: It should be protected in a govt approved scheme. Check with the website of the scheme it';s in & raise a dispute, after politely declining agencies kind offer to charge you their daft & indefensible fee..

Thanks, yes it is with the Deposit Protection Service and I have just disputed their deductions.
