I have £2000.00 sitting in my bank doing nothing, what would be the best short term investment for me to gain the highest interest.?

    "Investment" and "short term" don't really go hand in hand. Assuming you mean savings rather than investments, your best bet is to move your money into one of the high interest current accounts frequently mentioned on these pages.

    As above, investment is a not great idea for short term unless you're a huge gambler.
    If you are looking at savings then you can get at least 5% on £2000 with a current account and with a bit more effort increase that to over 8% with a second. Not bad for a risk free return.

    TSB 5%
    Halifax £5 per month


    Boost it even more with some switching bonuses.
