BT phone fault -desperate

Sorry for this being a long story, but I am being desperate.....My BT phone is faulty as it rings non stop ( i tried different handsets). An engineer visit was scheduled for Fr 18 Sept 1 -6pm. On the day nobody showed nor called to cancel the visit. I complained on Fri and was told somebody would call me on Sat. On Sat nobody called and I complained again on Sunday. My phone calls were diverted to my mobile and I was told I would get a call on Monday. On Monday I got a call at 2:40pm and I was told an engineer would come by that day between 1-6pm which was obviously ridiculous as it was already 2:40pm in the afternoon and I was at work with no possibility to go home. I was told by Wed (!) somebody would call for scheduling a visit on the weekend as I am unable to take another half day off work as I just started a new job. On Monday evening I noticed that the call divert no longer worked. I called to reinstate it and waited almost 30 min in line to get thru to somebody. I was then told that the fault was fixed (which it had not been). When I asked how the engineer fixed the fault without access to my flat, I was told that I had refused access to the flat!! The call ended with a reinstatement of the call divert and I have now been told that I will receive a call on Tuesday. On Tues I got a txt message telling me that my phone is fixed. Two hours later I received a call to reschedule the engineer appointment. I told the operator I needed a Sat appointment as I could not take another 1/2 day off. I was told I would receive a call on Wed. No call came. I received a call on Saturday, which unfortunately I missed. On Sunday I noticed that I was no longer having the call divert service. I contacted from my parents house BT via chat. I was told the phone line works, hence no divert on. When I got home the evening, I check my line. Still not working. I got on chat with BT again. They needed to do all checks again to establish that it did not work. After being 1 hr on the chat the conclusion was that the call divert did not work, I could not get a Sat appointment and with no appoitnemnt I could get also no call divert. I started a new job 2 weeks ago. I already took 1/2 day off when nobody from BT showed. I cant take another 1/2 day off. What am I supposed to do?

I presume you've already tried another phone - and tried connecting the phone alone (no micro filter) into the test socket (eg the socket behind the front plate)
Have you raised a formal complaint with BT ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
TBH if you have already established that your own phone and wiring isn't the problem then there isn't any real reason why you need to be home, although they may insist, and it's probable that they will fix the problem without you seeing the engineer, a constantly ringing phone could be an exchange line card problem, and it would be fixed by an engineer going to the exchange not your property0
