Tax Credit - What is income

hi all

I have been geting tax credits for 5 years.

I am maried with 3 children under the age of 10. My employee benefits include a house. I have never told the tax credit people this and let them think I am renting a house privatly. I think this was a mistake and am dreding a letter coming through the dor.

Hav i done wrong or am I worying nedlessly?

Your employer should be submitting a P11D for you every tax year if you are getting any employee benefits as it is likely you would have to pay tax on the benefit. There are some exceptions so it's worth you checking up on this because if your employer hasn't been doing this then you could owe tax on your income & the HMRC can go back to previous years.

Hopefully your employer has been doing this correctly, but they should issue you with a copy of the P11D I believe.
