  • You mean the IMEI number on the box?

    Yes sorry auto correct
  • The usual scam is selling a phone, then claiming off the insurance and blocking the IMEI as 'stolen'

Google isn't showing up anything for working a scam using somebody else's phone details. Could be the buyer was just being very cautious the phone wasn't stolen, who knows why they never got back.

The phone came out days ago, why buy the thing if you are going to send it back?

Maybe the op got it as a free upgrade due to their contract being up for renewal.
I got an HTC One S as an upgrade and sold it un-locked.

In which case, why would the OP return the phone to Apple ("Becaue I want to send it back to Apple now")?
