Open credit accounts which are settled

Received a credit score report and a number of accounts are still on there, dating back a few years, do I just ring the relevent company up to close the accounts?

Comments

  • If they are shown as settled then they should be the closed accounts. They are on the CRA report because there is a 72 month rolling history retained to profile credit history and usage.

Is that what you mean? Or do you have some that are open and you want to close them?

As do I. In fact I have some that are OPEN for over 20 years. The key here is that the question was about SETTLED accounts. You cant have a settled account that is open.

If they re currently open and you want to close them, then close them and they will be marked as settled wit the date of closure. Then they will appear for another 72 months then drop off.

I think you meant to say that you consider them settled but they are not formally settled in the CRA sense - is that right? sorry for confusion otherwise.

They are showing as settled and a date of last updated, which are over 3 years ago, as well as the settlement date from prior to September 2012.
