Does anyone else who earns a living soley by this wonder how to word it on your CV so that in case you want to get a work place job it looks good on your CV?
Has anyone found prospective employers are put off by an applicant having years of selling online on their CV?

I Wouldn't mentioned eBay or Amazon, as it can be negative for some employers, unless the job is involving those sites.
I would just state proprietor of business X for X yrs covering online sales via various Marketplaces, etc etc.
I've been self-employed for the last 23yrs, so its been a long time since I've to prepare a CV0 -

That said, I'd have thought that the skills involved in using Ebay and Amazon would be useful for many jobs.
I have a skillset that would be useful for many situations in many companies, sadly I have a mindset that would probably exclude me from more:D.0 -
As a lot of retailers sell on Ebay I do not think that it would really count against you. I do not think I'd really want to work for someone who somehow thought because you made your living on Ebay that you are not employable. As RFW says the skills used in Ebay would be useful in many jobs. If you are a sole trader on Ebay then it would be Customer relations, sales, buying, dispatch, accounting etc..
If it was a full time job then I would list it as any other job. That you were self employed, the dates you did it and the personal skills you used in the time you were doing it. If it was something you did in your spare time then I would list it under interests
If you are still not sure the job center would be able to help you with your CV0 -
I have employed people and I seen several CV's. I am sceptical about the generally held belief that a "good" CV is one where you try bulk it out and put a gloss on everything. So I would perhaps leave it out or downplay it by listing it as one of your hobbies. If the employer thinks it is relevant they will ask you about it in the interview.
PS. if ebay/amazon has been your only living then that is a different matter. You will have to put it in the body of your CV and not just put it down as a hobby. You will have to be prepared for being asked why you are applying for a salaried job rather than keeping on trading on ebay/Amazon and will you continue trading on ebay/Amazon if you got a salaried job (btw the correct answer to that question btw is "No").0
