ftse prediction 2020

just wondering where you all think the FTSE 100 will be by summer 2020? is it more likely to be 5000 or 8000 or even less or more? I know in some ways it is a pointless exercise but just want to see what everyone is thinking at the moment and on what they base their thinking? I think that it will be more likely to be at 8000 -always the optomist. I think there will be a slowdown lasting 12-18 months then things will start to pick up again.

6300.
There now follow some space-using characters.
Edit: For some reason, I misread your question as '... at the start of next year'.

My prediction is that it will be overweight in just two or three sectors.IANAL etc.0

Generally higher over time.
It's a horrible index though and I can't really see many of the larger components having a good few years. It might be ironed out by 2020, but the future is bleak for the next 18 months or so.
UK banks and financials might improve as interest rates rise, but in a reversal the EM-focused banks will not be doing well. Miners and oil companies also troubled for the same reason in EM. There's not much to like in the FTSE 100, frankly. This is everybody's fault but mine.0 -
I think it will be around about 2,000 or maybe 30,000, one or the other!

I predict the FTSE 100 will still be here in 2020

Well, according to my trusty spreadsheet, it was 5657 about 5 years ago on the 8th October.
So, given that it is about 6109 now, I can predict with 217% certainty that it will be 6561 in 2020.

I don't know where it will be next week, next month or next year, let alone in 2020.
If anyone did they would be worth a fortune.0 -
