EDF - Customer service useless

I decided to leave EDF a couple of months ago as they increased my direct debit one month from £85 to £150 without bothering to inform me. What really infuriated me was that they then lied to me over the phone trying to insist that they had informed me in writing (I had just had a letter from them apoligising and confirming that they had not told me). So off it was elsewhere. My new company decided that they were going to ignore my actual reading for my electric (gas was OK) and instead put what the meter reading company had estimated it to be. My meter reading was 2205, the company estimated it to be 13235. Real bill £78, bill which was sent £1300! I have now spent the last two months trying to get a final bill from EDF based on the correct figure.

Finally got a paper bill yesterday which offers no explanation of who they come to a final figure and their customer service just can't offer an explanation. My basic question to them was how much did I owe (or was owed) after my previous bill, how much had I paid them, how much electric did I use inbetween and so therefore how much did I owe them. The paper bill was not able to clarify this. I got four figures on how much I owed at the end of the previous bill ranging from a debit of £120, and credits of £29.£49 and £65. Pointless waste of time.

I know its not there fault the incorrect meter reading was given, but surely their computer system should be programmed to highlight an estimated bill which is way out of line with normal bills eg £120, £115, £73, £1300.
