Paid Corporation Tax to wrong bank account?

I've just paid my Corporation Tax online and have noticed that my accountants have given me the bank details for the Shipley bank account (08-32-10 12001020) when last year I paid using the Cumbernauld account (08-32-10 12001039) which were the ones stored in my beneficiaries on HSBC.

The HMRC website says if you're not sure which office to pay to then use Cumbernauld. I Just wanted to check that the payment I have sent will get to them. The UTR number sent on the payment was all correct.

Now that a few days have passed since you did this, if you logon to the Government Gateway, you will be able to see whether or not you are up to date with HMRC for Corporation Tax. :)

Note: Payments take 4 to 7 working days to appear on the page.

Did your accountant give you the HMRC paying in slip or just tell you where to pay it?

On my paying in slip (on the payment options on the back), it lists the 1020 account number so thats the account i paid mine to.

My accountants sent me the details in a letter. I did have the paying in slip but didn't plan to use it as I was sending the payment online. I checked the payment reference which was identical bar one letter to the one I used last year and was stored on my payment beneficiaries but didn't think to check the account number. I'll check on the HMRC site over weekend to see what my account is showing.

It won't be too much hassle to sort out if you've messed up.

I've done this before when loaning money from one company to another to get a CT bill paid (wrong account, right ref numbers), and the issue corrected itself within about a week on the HMRC site.
