Privacy?

I found our household on this site britishphonebook.com , my word I thought I knew most things, whoops wake up son , now tomorrow I will be asking for a FOI request to find out where they got that from, they claim from a website we may have registered to ....really, both of us. :eek: If yours is there remove it...mind you ours was flagged as TPS , the tele-marketing muppets ignore that don't they, after all it is a chocolate fire guard ?

Perhaps you mean a Subject Access Request, which will cost you a tenner.

Maybe your details were gotten legally from the electoral roll. It's available to be purchased by any company (as far as I know) yes the government will sell your details too.

Do you happen to be in the BT phonebook? I have just checked for an entry for myself and there is no record. However I have always been ex-directory BUT I have plastered my details all over the web on various sites as I have signed up for stuff/bought stuff etc.

My late father is on it
He died in the 1990's
So that tells you from where some of the data came from - and the quality of it.
In this case it would have come form an old phone book of that time when he was in it and and before the TPS even existed....Oh yes and the post code was a few digits out as well.

If you look at their list of partners you will see that the data comes from a multiple list of sources. :eek:
It says data from 1-10 years old. But my data on there is older.

Old phone books are available on ancestry website. If you have had your phone number a very long time, before TPS and ex-directory existed then your number is still available from there.

I found 2 entries for me in an old name/house and one had second half of address wrong town/postcode. Another entry for a family member only had house number and street but no town. Nothing for me current name and address but there is for OH, however phone bill has never been in his name so that is not the source in this case, I'm not sure what is the source. Also although registered for TPS the number is showing!

It would certainly fail as it only applies to public bodies and not even all of them.

My mother's number was listed and she died in 2009. It only took a click to remove.
