Faulty Gas Meter Help

These metres can show this error even if taken off for a simple gas safety check, valve jammed all which wouldn't prevent the correct recording.
If opp wants good advice take a read for7days, it should average out.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
Oh, give it a rest naedanger!
I see from most of your posts you are either ranting about a supplier or knocking the posts others provide make to offer help and advice. The OP is not objecting to the meter being changed per se, he is objecting to it being replaced without being tested.
It needs to be removed and tested elsewhere. Only the supplier can arrange this - the OP cannot do it themself. The OP will not be charged to replace a meter. It is not his responsibility to replace it.If the supplier tries to get a court order to replace the meter he can explain his objection to the court. They will almost certainly side with him unless npower deny what others here have said, namely that a letter "d" indicates a potential major fault.
The Account holder is responsible for providing access to the meter as and when required ... and the supplier is permitted to change the meter if that is their decision.
I think a court would support a warrant in this situation, but ultimately it'll be the judge/magistrate that decides.
Yes, the account holder can attend court to make representations against an application for an entry warrant, but it is illogical to assume a court would side with the OP (i.e. to maintain the faulty meter at the property) if the OP themself also agrees that the meter is faulty.A court would almost certainly agree the meter should be tested, at the supplier's expense, in such circumstances.
The usual rule for cost of testing, where the supplier does not agree to the cost in the first place, is that where a test is requested by the account holder, no charge applies if the meter is found to be faulty following test.
There is no suggestion by footyguy, the OP, or anyone else, that that wouldn't be the case here, so I've no idea why you presume a court would ever get asked to decide. It is npower that will have the problem trying to collect charges based on a meter that indicates it has a major fault. In such circumstances, i.e. a faulty meter, the only sensible option is to go on estimates, and I would expect the estimates to err in the OP's favour (as he is not responsible for the faulty meter and was ignored when he first highlighted the problem).
If there are problems collecting payment against a bill, then the usual course of action by an energy supplier is to install a PPM, and apply the debt to that.0 -

If npower agreed to have the meter tested at their expense there would not be a problem.
The dispute is not about the meter being replaced it is about the meter being replaced without being independently tested.
Until you can understand that you won't understand what I am saying.0 -
Ofmat tests can be requested, however the op should take my advice and take regular reads. And yes Im qualified to make this statement.
Also to put the warrants issue to a side, 95% are done by court clerks rubber stamping.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -

I am hoping someone within the Meter world can confirm some things about my siemens E6s gas meter. We have been getting giant bills that we know we are not using. Since we have complained about the amount to Npower and given all the details about the gas meter. We have an old E6s gas meter that's battery hasn't been changed and the meter was installed in 1998.
Npower insists its our bill and our usage but they keep trying to replace the meter. We had an engineer down to replace it but I refused to let them take it as I believe its faulty. The engineer was kind enough to look over the unit and said that the battery is supposed to be replaced every 10 years or the unit is replaced but it was installed in 1998 so well out of date. He also pointed out that there is a letter 'd' at the end of my usage amount on the LCD screen which means major fault. Npower say there is nothing wrong with it (even though there engineer in confidence to me said otherwise) and ever since the moment I complained on the size of the bills Npower have been constantly writing to me to replace the meter, its as if they want to hide the evidence.
Is there a meter man/woman on here who can confirm the 'd' means fault and also any advice what to do next.
Thank you for your help.
