Just realised that because I will be receiving two months of salary in one payment (due to new contract not being processed in time), it will trigger a student loan payment which I shouldn't have to pay as my annual salary in not high enough (was a mature student, sadly am not in my twenties :rotfl:). I am now rushing off to payroll department to seek advice. I am fairly certain you can reclaim the money from the tax office by sending of copies of payslips etc, but that's a lot of messing around for something that wasn't my error. Having said that, better to get it back at some point than not at all

Whoop whoop finally payday has arrived and I have been paid for September & October. Payslip hasn't arrived as yet so not sure what deduction was made for student loan, but can sort out OP from what I have received Trying to sort out a spreadsheet to account for everything in my 123 account. Transferred some savings from an on-line account which was paying really poor interest and need to be clear exactly what is now included in this account. New insurance arrangements start this month and I feel much better now it is sorted and under control. Just had a lovely Halloween evening with DS3 & DS4. Never really got into the whole trick or treat thing, but have a family tradition of a party tea with Halloween decorations and games. Missing DS1 and DS2 though, who are both away at Uni now I know they are both fine and having a blast but still miss them. Ok, no more procrastinating - have to conquer this spreadsheet !!!

Phew that spreadsheet was far trickier than it should have been !! Could be down to my rubbish maths skills :rotfl: At one point, I managed to count the money being paid out on bills in my savings pot - I really shouldn't be allowed to operate a calculator on my own!! All straight now - another area under control

Well done with the spreadsheet. I have s basic one I use to track all of our spending on, it's amazing how all those little spends add up!

Thank you Sedge123 - this is just addictive:) How I regret all that money frittered away over the years! No point looking back though - just focus on the new regime. Planning to sort out a First Direct regular saving account today to take advantage of their high interest rate.

Managed to sort out the FD regular saver account - very quick and painless, as always with this bank. Have diverted some money to access the higher interest. This is targeted at DS1's uni accommodation fund, but depending how his budget goes, may well be diverted to OP instead

So made second overpayment of £2000 today. Big event as it means we are just under £50,000 (£49,577.04 to be precise). It's such a great feeling to be in the forties :j Am planning to update my signature. Bought lots of Christmas bargains today as well, so all in all a great day. Just off to celebrate with a sneaky whisky and coke. Happy weekend everyone
