If nothing else, now I know that cosmeceuticals is a word.

Not sure if my life is improved.

Probably more improved than it would have been had you wasted your money on these products.
  • Hi, further to my recent post re my encounter with these low life scammers, I was advised by my card issuer that cancelling/reporting your card lost or stolen wont prevent a charge going to your card account which is held in a frozen account. As a matter of interest looking at Eternal Cosmeceuticals on the web seems that they have gone into liquidation! I would like to know how and when Discover Discounts were given access to my card details. I will be contacting the Information Commissioners Office in due course expressing my concern.

Yes but if your card is cancelled they won't have access to the expiry date or the last 3 digits on the back. I can't see how they can charge anything to a cancelled card. Another reason I think this is that I once had a refund attempted to be paid back to a card used for a transaction which couldn't be completed because those two things had changed in the new card that replaced an out of date one.

Have another read of my earlier post.

I can only go by what my card issuer said to me yesterday along with my experience of money not getting back to a card that had expired.
But thanks. When a card us stolen then, how come cancelling that card then prevents it being used? Can you explain how that is different? I am confused.
  • I purchased ROX eye product, a week later i got a phone call asking if i wanted a book of discounts, he said take it if you dont want it bin it. checking my credit card statement I saw a debit for£99.99 payable to ROX 02034557400, I recognised the tele number, I got my credit card provider to block any further payments as I had not authorised it. It would appear that because I bought from ROX they passed my details or else they are on of the same company, I rang and told them i wanted my money back. This they promised to do with in 7 days. Amazon are selling the product on their website. I contacted them but they said there was nothing they could do, I wonder how many others have been caught out in this scam. Some may not have even noticed that the payment had been taken. Please if you bought any thing make sure you havent been scammed too.

How long ago did you make the purchase? Did you receive the booklet and did you try to cancel it before the payment was taken?
  • They must want me to DO something in order for them to recoup money and so phoning a possible fraudulent number where they might try to glean other info from either the caller id or me inadvertently is what they are after. I can't believe that this so called helpline gave me this advice.

They actually don't want you to do anything - they want you to think as I did and not call them and so "legitimately" they can take the money out of your account.

It remains to be seen whether cancelling over the phone a) incurred a large telephone call fee or b) actually succeeded in cancelling the payment.
I will update in due course
  • Just to let everyone know, I phoned the number 02034557400 in the end to cancel whatever it was that they had me "signed up" for and the call didn't cost me anything (checked my phone bill) and so far nothing has come out of my account.
