Powergen

Is anyone else having problems with powergen quoting one price then signing you up for a dearer tariff than the one you agreed to? It's happened to me twice now, and I think it's deliberate.

It took me weeks of calls to get them to send a quote for the Age Concern tariff, which is the cheapest for me. They kept promising to send a quote, then either did nothing or sent a quote for the more expensive Energy Saver Plan. When I finally got a quote I rang to sign up, and I could tell immediately from his tone that he didn't want me to. He tried to sell me the dearer tariff, but I refused. When the contract arrived this morning it was for the dear tariff that I explicitly said I didn't want! I rang and complained, and the guy I spoke to this time admitted that they're under instructions not to push the Age Concern tariff.

A few years ago I got a quote from Powergen and posted off a contract, but a month later nothing had happened. I rang to chase them and they said that it must have got lost in the post, offering to sign me up over the phone. When the paperwork came through, it was a more expensive tariff than I had agreed to on the phone. When I rang up and asked to cancel within the 14 day cooling off period, they told me that I'd left it too late, citing the date of the contract that had supposedly got lost in the post!

    Moral of the story?

    Avoid Powergen.
Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").

With all the bad reports on here Re. Powergen, I can't believe people are still signing with them. Especially the Age Concern and Staywarm tariffs. They openly admit that the Age Concern tariff is dearer than their standard tariff.

No, it's cheaper, or I wouldn't be trying to sign up for it.
