Questions and seller rating- leather

Hi all,
Can I ask if it affects your seller rating if you do not answer a question.
Reason being that I have listed a couple of ladies' leather jackets and this very amusing guy is sending questions about the fact he likes them but they would not fit him and how he has matching trousers.
He is very funny but I feel I have to reply to all of this in case it affects my seller rating. Does it?

  • I don't think it does, someone else might clarify this better. Could you not block the man, then he shouldn't be able to send silly questions like that.

Silly, non relevant questions dont need answering. Just answer specific questions with specific answers. They are such a size, the price is so much, etc. You dont need to get into any side gossip, friendly banter or one liners.

BlueEyedGirl, blocking a buyer doesn't stop them sending you messages, only from bidding on / buying your items.

It does, there is an option called 'don't allow blocked bidders to contact me'

If this is enabled, buyers get a message along the lines of 'this seller is unable to answer your questions'

Bx - I have blocked him but I cannot find the option to prevent him from contacting me.
Have done a search in help and in site preferences.
Do you know where I find this please?

As you are being pestered change these settings:

Manage Communications with buyers->Allow potential bidders to contact you (yes / no)

In buyer requirements->block buyers, enable 'don't allow blocked buyers to contact me'

Once he's got bored, you might want to change Manage Communications with buyers->Allow potential bidders to contact you (yes / no) back to 'Yes' as this will stop anyone seeing the 'ask a question' link at the bottom of your listing.

The next messages are probably going to ask you to model it.
  • Add all the questions (and your good-natured responses) to the listing, and maybe it'll go viral and you'll get zillions of viewers and bidders.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

Just a point of note for the OP. Even preventing him from contacting you by doing the above, will not stop him replying to the responses you have already given.
