Hand Luggage on easy Jet

Quick question...instead of chucking my 20kg worth of luggage into the hold, can I take it on board the aircraft? I am flying to Germany from Luton with EJ.
The last time I flew to Germany (2 months ago) I went with BA. I checked my luggage in, and there were signs all over the place talking about the maximum size of baggage allowed - which mine did not fit.
However sitting in the lounge waiting to board I saw people getting on the plane with luggae the same size as mine that I had to check in.
I don't get it

NO, 20KG of hand luggage is far too heavy and a safety issue for other pax. Though easyjet doesn't state a max weight for hand luggage it does expect pax to be reasonable in what they take on board, and 20KG is far from reasonable . The dimensions of your ONE piece of hand luggage should not be more than 55x40x20cm.
The others may have appeared to have similar size bags, but the weights may have varied considerably. Having said the above what you carry on board is basically down to whether the check-in/security/cabin crew notice or not.0 -
20cm is quite small, so be careful if they try to enforce their regulations.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

easyjets policy on hand luggage is as follows
save where the limits set locally are more restrictive, passengers are permitted one standard piece of hand baggage to a volume limit of 55x40x20cm; no weight restriction applies within reasonable limits — i.e. a passenger must be able to place the piece of luggage safely in the overhead storage bins without assistance.
the caveat being if you can lift the weight it's on !!!!!0 -
within reasonable limits
I would not say that 20kg is reasonable, and I certainly wouldn't like it if it fell on me! xGone ... or have I?0 -

1 case per person max 20kg ...you now have to pay for a case in the hold . you will also pay more if you take 2 bags per person still with a combined total weight of 20kg0

With easy jet you do not pay for the 1st case per person in the hold , only if it is over 20kg's or if you want a 2nd case per person in hold0 -
They changed the rules a couple of months ago - you now pay for ALL checked bags but they've reduced the cost of doing so - from £5 to £2, so if you normally check 2 or more bags you end up paying lesscheepskate wrote: »With easy jet you do not pay for the 1st case per person in the hold , only if it is over 20kg's or if you want a 2nd case per person in hold
Excess baggage is charged separately on the total weight of all of your bags less your 20kg per PASSENGER allowance.0 -
It is only in the past week that easyjet have started to charge for hold baggage. I booked flights with them last week and was not charged for hold baggage. Then yesterday I decided to check the price of the flight to see how much it would be now and it was going to cost me to check in hold baggage.0
